We're being given a Circus. What else is going on?
Suella Braverman resigned for sending email with classified attachment from her personal email account rather than a government email account. Basically this is a security incident and just goes to show how little regard those in senior positions have for the rules. But it’s not as if we needed reminded of that, there are plenty of examples!
This incident was one of many (economy tanking) that helped precipitate the fall of Liz Truss’s government. What also amazes me is that she wasn't asked to resign for the inflammatory and disgraceful insults against “Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati”. That was simply culture war baiting from a so called Home Secretary, one of the highest offices in the land.

With the resignation of Liz Truss, the path was opened for the Tories to elect a new leader. The King will appoint a Prime Minister who can command a majority in parliament
Let’s look at this a moment.

The mechanism announced by Sir Graham Brady means that they need 100 MPs to back each candidate.
In a twist that wasn’t well forecast, Jacob Rees-Mogg announced he would support Boris Johnson’s return with a seemingly well-prepared campaign.

Sunak has already hit 100, and Johnson is apparently sat on 71 at the time of writing this. Mordaunt is sat on 25. There are still just over 150 MPs to declare. Those who get over 100 will potentially go to the membership as before, but after an MP vote.
Points to note:
- Boris Johnson still subject of investigation by Parliamentary Standards Committee
- If this finds him guilty and he’s won the leadership contest, this will likely force a General Election as it will present a constitutional crisis.
- According to Chris Bryant there are 2 ways to axe the partygate inquiry
1. A vote of the whole House of commons
2. A general election (which would temporarily suspend the inquiry) - If he goes to GE with his current reputation, odds are that he'll fail spectacularly.
We can’t forget why he was ousted in the first place, although what we are seeing in large tracts of the media are a whitewashing of his reputation. “Racing back to take charge”, “Cutting his holiday short”, “He got the big calls right” and “All is forgiven”.
Yet he’s still on 71 public MP nominations.
Will he return? Should he? Personally, I think he should stay away, and instead of this sham leadership contest we should have a General Election.
This is the man in case anyone had forgotten:

Pause for thought.
Throughout all of this, what has surprised me is that the media are failing to give sufficient coverage to the passing of The Public Order Bill.

This effectively stifles protest to easily ignored letters to your MP, as George Monbiot writes in his column.

Can all of the last few months have been orchestrated? My last podcast raised alarm about the Investment Zones, have you voted for them? Do you even know about them?

Your thoughts, as ever, are appreciated!

Proven correct about the constitutional crisis.
